Investment assessment: the total investment is 5000 million US dollars which will be entirely paid by DAHENG Group in three years: the first part (2007 –2009) 30 million US dollars; the second part (2009-2010) 20 million US dollars.
Background information and progress of the project:
During 2006 Beijing Summit, DAHENG Group banqueted the Former President H.E.Mr. Festus G. Mogae of the Republic of Botswana. In the meeting, Mr. Festus G. Mogae encouraged and requested DAHENG Group to further expand the investment in Botswana, make the enterprise larger and stronger, and develop to the industry zone. At the same time, Mr. Festus G. Mogae expressed that the government of Botswana will support DAHENG Group as before. Mr. Festus G. Mogae on the scene assigned the Minister of Ministry of Finance and Planning of Botswana to be responsible for carrying out the land matters in Botswana for the industry zone.
According to its more-than-three-year experience of factory operation in Botswana and experience of doing business in Africa for many years, together with the preferential and convenient local investment environment, through the prudence research from Nov, 2006 to Mar, 2007, DAHENG Group decided to increase 50 million US dollars investment in Botswana, purchasing 5 square kilometers land, to set up "China- Botswana Economic & Trade Cooperation Area". This project not only responds to the suggestion of the Former President of Botswana, also responds to the policy that the Chinese government encourages investing in African countries. More importantly, it will pour new vigor into the development of DAHENG Group in Africa.
On August 14, 2007 , the Former President H.E. Mr. Festus G. Mogae met the seniors officer of DAHENG Group and Daheng Group (Botswana) Pty Ltd. Mr. Festus G. Mogae inquired the details about the "China - Botswana economic and trade cooperation area", made an instruction Botswana to Ministry of Trade and Industry of Botswana and Botswana Export and Investment Authority (BEDIA) to push forward the construction of projects and make efforts to provide all necessary assistance. After listening to the project report, Mr. Festus G. Mogae agreeablely wrote on the project paper and made some important instructions. The preparatory work for the project of China - Botswana economic and trade cooperation area has been initially completed, with the direct care by the Former President of Botswana, the support from Botswana Ministry of Finance and Planning, as well as the effort of BEDIA and the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Botswana. Currently, DAHENG Group is working for advancing the progress.
